Retirement Mr Alan Elgar
Retirement Mr Alan Elgar
Last Friday saw the staff and students farewell Alan Elgar, after 43 years in the teaching profession, and 40 years of service to New Plymouth Boys' High School.

Alan started at the School in 1983 as a teacher of English and a Boarding Housemaster. In his time at Boys' High School, he has been Head of Department/Faculty, Officer of the Cadet Unit, coach of Cricket and Rugby, Dean, Head of House, Acting Assistant Principal, Careers Advisor, and BOT representative. He has been a Housemaster in boarding twice (1983-1985 and 1996-2000). Alan has been an excellent classroom teacher and engaged students in English with his knowledge, humour and personality.

We thank Alan for all his service to the School over the last 40 years, and wish Alan and Brenda all the best in their retirement.
